WWWhere Are They Now?

by Simon Plumbe and Matt Jackson

As wrestling fans, one thing we often find ourselves wondering is what happened to a lot of the old WWE/WWF/WCW superstars? We've seen many crop up on the tour circuit with other companies, we know that some have sadly passed away, but others seem to have just disappeared...

In this regularly updated guide, we'll try to find out what all these stars are up to these days and in the future adding brief career histories as well. If there is anyone in particular you want to know about, please get in touch.

Still Active

King Kong Bundy

Amongst his many career highlights, he was in the main event at Wrestlemania II against Hulk Hogan in a steel cage for the WWF title, and held the NWA (later to become WCW) tag team title with the Masked Superstar in 1984. He held the Southern tag titles with Ravishing Rick Rude and held the World Class Heavyweight Championship, and the MCW (Maryland Championship Wrestling) Heavyweight Championship.

Bundy is now wrestling on the independent circuit and he is also involved in doing promotional work with Filsinger Games on their upcoming Legends Of Wrestling game.

Sting

Following the collapse of the WCW and it's takeover by the WWF, Sting seemed to disappear without a trace. From what we have heard, it seemed that he was happy with the money he had earned and felt no need to continue wrestling actively. However, he does make appearances in various events around the world, although his ring appearances are reported to be fairly brief.

Retired

For one reason or another, a great many superstars have retired from wrestling. Some because of age, others through illness or injury...

Diamond Dallas Page

Unfortunately, fan favourite DDP has stepped down from wrestling and will no longer be performing in the ring. He suffered a serious neck injury some time ago and it now transpires that as a result, he has a couple of vertebrae in his neck that are fusing. He has been told by doctors not to continue as all it would take would be a heavy blow and it could leave him paralysed.

He has since parted with the WWE, although he is continuing with a number of personal projects...

Passed Away

A number of former WWE stars have sadly passed away, some suddenly and others through unfortunate accidents...

Owen Hart

Possibly the most tragic of all the Superstars deaths over the years. At a WWF Pay-Per-View in 1999, Owen was being suspended from the arena ceiling prior to his entrance to the ring. In a terrible accident, the harness supporting him failed and Owen fell to the ring and to a premature death, aged just 34.

Yokozuna

Yokozuna was in the UK with a WWF tour and between events, passed away in his sleep in a hotel in Liverpool. It was reported that the cause of death was heart failure, aged just 32.
