Software Wanted - Updated 1st January 2004
We are looking for plenty of new pieces of software to add to the website and we are in need of your help in a number of ways. Whether you have written a game, have a request for something you want us to include of if you've created something with a game development package, we'd love to see your work here. There are a number of ways you can get involved, and we'll try to detail most of them below...
Original Games/Applications
One of the main things we are looking for is original titles on a range of formats. Whether you've written a game or utility it doesn't matter - we'd love to see anything you've written with a view to including it on the site. As long as it's your own work, we'll take a look!
Flash/Java Games
While we want to keep the use of Flash and Java to a minimum on the site, if you've created any games that require these or any other similar package, we'd definitely be interested in taking a look.
Game Creator Files
There are a lot of game creation packages out there - some are geared up towards creating arcade games, others for text and graphic adventures. Jus because you use one of these, it doesn't mean that we don't want to see your work. As long as it's entertaining and fun to play, it doesn't really matter how it was produced.
Site Support Files
One thing you will find with our site over time is that we will be including games online that are fully customisable by the user. As such, we'd love to see any add-ons you might have created such as adventures and other games for use with Dink Smallwood, or tracks for use with XTreme Racing for example.
Game Expansion Levels
There are a lot of PC titles out there that have user-created levels and if you've created anything, we'd love to take a look. Whether you've designed an arena for Quake III or a new setting for Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force, we're eager to see what you've created.
Shareware/Freeware Recommendations
Also, we'd love to hear about any freeware or shareware titles that you'd love to see on the site. There are no restrictions on what platform it is for, the size or type of program as long as it is illegal and there is no adult or offensive content. Other than that, it's up to you!
Game Requests
Finally, to go with our existing commercial downloads, we'd love to hear any requests you might have. We can source games and applications so get in touch with details of any old titles you'd like to see on here. The more information you can give us the better, although we'll try to track titles down on whatever information you can provide.
Ideally, we'd like to know the title, publisher and what format it was written for (16-bit, 8-bit, console etc). Then leave it up to us. Ideally, if you could place requests on our forum through the general computing and gaming topic so all our site visitors will have the chance to make their comments on your requests.
The only titles we don't think we'll be able to get are movie/TV tie-ins and arcade conversions because of the licences involved. To be able to redistribute these would need agreements not only with the original software publishers but the licence holders as well and we don't think we'd be able to get them freely!
Well, if you want to get involved, or if you think you have something we might be interested in, contact us via email, or visit our forum. We can't pay any of you for your work, but the more downloads we get online, the more successful the site will be and the more software we can negotiate for to bring you here so everyone will benefit.
