Downloads - Former Commercial Software
- Updated: 1st January 2004
Here we'll be bringing you a selection of software for
the PC, Amiga, Commodore 64, 8-bit Atari (as well as some other titles for use
with other emulators) that were originally released commercial but now, after
extensive negotiations, we are able to present to you here free on the Infinite
Frontiers website. All of the software is featured with the full permission of
the original copyright holders or has been released into the public domain or
as freeware by the copyright holders.
Most of the Amiga downloads will work on any Amiga, as
well as on the PC running an Amiga emulator such as Cloanto's Amiga Forever.
With most of the Amiga titles, they are presented as ADF files, but they can be
converted to Amiga disks quite easily. Some are in the Amiga DMS format and
you'll need to ensure that your emulator can support these. If you have any
problems getting any titles to work on any format, please let us know and we'll
see if we can help.
One thing you will find next to some of the games
featured here is a "Software Extra" button that will take you to a
dedicated page about that download with more information, playing tips for the
games, developer interviews and much more. Also, because of the sheer volume of
titles we are giving away, we have had to split this section up to have
dedicated sections to Anco and Llamasoft so you'll find those titles there
instead!
Feel free to download everything available here. All we
ask is that if your friends want any of these, please ask them to download
their own copies. Also, having all these files does use up a great deal of
space on our server as well as bandwidth so if you download a lot of files,
please give consideration to making a small donation to help us fund this free
archive using the button below. Even if you could only spare a pound or two, it
will help us to expand the site and bring you as much software as possible. It
will also allow us to license other titles to bring you here and any money
raised from gaming donations will be reserved for the downloads section - just
include the message "Game Fund" with your donation and we'll do the
rest!
We are also offering some extra commercial game downloads
for those of you who are members of our forum. To sign up for this free forum
(and maybe to join in the discussions), click on the link below:-

Well, we hope you enjoy these titles, and please feel
free to download anything here. If you have any comments or suggestions, or if
there are any classic titles that you'd like to see hear (on ANY platform),
please let us know by email or through our Forum and we'll see what we can do.
It goes without saying that although permission is granted for you to download
any of these games, the copyright remains with the original authors and
publishers. Anyway, on with the software...

3D Realms (also known as Apogee Software), developers of
the Duke Nukem series, have kindly allowed us to include their two early text
adventures for the PC here for you to download. Each game is written by Scott
Miller and both should run on most PCs. Please note that both of these games
still mention that they are shareware, although they have been released freely
by Apogee. Unfortunately, they no longer have the original source code and as
such, were unable to recompile the games and remove the shareware
message.

Beyond The Titanic - PC
by Apogee Software
This text adventure is set on the Titanic's maiden, and
fateful voyage. Can you escape to safety? A relatively small zip file that will
run quite happily on most PCs. Note - you will need a blank floppy to save your
game and it works best if you install the game to disk instead of your hard
drive.
|
 |
Supernova - PC
by Apogee Software
Another text adventure from the mind of Scott Miller, this
time a sci-fi adventure. As with the previous game, this will run happily on
any PC, and does not need a floppy disk to run. |

 |
Rosso Rabbit - PC
by CDV
This is a very similar 3D platform game to Santa Claus In
Trouble, this time with an Easter theme and, yes... you control a rabbit! Great
fun with superb graphics, and this is the complete game. CDV are also offering
an enhanced version through their website with extra levels as a paid download
or on CD. If you like this full game, why not consider buying the enhanced
version. This will definitely last you a lot longer than all those Easter
Eggs!
|
 |
Santa Claus In Trouble - PC
by CDV
You might recognise the name CDV - they have been
responsible for a wide range of strategy games for the PC including the Sudden
Strike series. Now, they have produced this free 3D Christmas platform game for
the PC and we are proud to be able to present it to you here on Infinite
Frontiers Online. With great graphics, smooth animation, and plenty of levels,
this will keep you happy long after the turkey leftovers have run
out! |

Cloanto have been producing some fantastic software for
the Amiga for a long time, and recently they made their two main titles -
Personal Paint and the Kara Collection free to download from Aminet. We have
now been given permission by Cloanto to distribute these files on this website
as well. The files do contain text files mentioning that the files are for
distribution by Aminet only, but Cloanto are happy with us using these
files.
For more information on Cloanto, or to find out about
Amiga Forever - the official Amiga emulator for the PC, visit their
website.
 |
Personal Paint 7.1b - Amiga
Following the demise of Deluxe Paint, Personal Paint became
the leading graphics package on the Amiga for bitmap images. Even today, it
still outperforms most products on other platforms for this type of work. An
essential product for every Amiga enthusiast.
There are a large number of additional support files to go
with this product, and we'll be bringing you these over time, but for now,
enjoy this full art program.
|

 |
The Kara Collection - Amiga
The Kara Collection is a massive set of clipart, fonts and
much more for any budding Amiga artist. Originally, this collection was
released on CD and thanks to Cloanto, we can bring you most of the set here,
completely free! As with Personal Paint, this is based on the archives
submitted to Aminet and as such makes reference to Aminet in some of the
files.
To start things off with this collection, we have the
following sets:-
AnimFonts - a selection of animated fonts
ColorFonts - a set featuring 80 full colour fonts
Starfields - a pack of moving stars seen from different
perspectives
We'll be adding even more to this section over
time... |
Distant Suns has been one of the leading astronomy
packages since it's release on the Amiga. Since then, it has been converted to
the PC and currently stands at version 5. Thanks to Distant Suns, we can now
bring you FULL versions for the PC and Amiga...
 |
Distant Suns 4SE - PC
by Distant Suns
This is a special edition of Distant Suns for the PC. It is
the full version of the program, and has not been limited in any way. It is
here as a taster for version 5 and you can find out more about this on the
Distant Suns website.
They are also producing a regular email astronomy newsletter
and would ask that if you download and use this software, that you'd consider
signing up for it. When you click on the link here, not only will you be taken
to the file download, but a new window will also appear taking you to the
Distant Suns site. It will only take a few moments to sign up for the
newsletter and we feel that it's worth it to get this great software
free! |

Genetic Species - Amiga

by Vulcan Software/Marble Eyes
Genetic Species is arguably one of the best 3D action games
ever released for the Amiga. Developed by Marble Eyes software, and published
by Vulcan, it can be best described as a fast action sci-fi Doom variant, with
elements of the C64 classic, Paradroid thrown in for good measure!
Graphically stunning, fast, and with an an intuitive control
system it quickly over-shadowed all of the competition at the time, including
the official conversion of Quake that was released at the same World Of Amiga
show in London.
Because of the size of the game (180Mb - it was originally
released for the Amiga on CD) we are presenting it here as a series of 19
separate files for you to download. Just download all of the files, then follow
the instructions below to install the game. To run Genetic Species, you need at
least 8Mb or RAM and either an AGA Amiga or a RTG graphics card. Everything for
the game is here including the massive intro animation. The only thing that is
missing is the CD audio, understandably!
First, create a directory on your hard drive called
"Genetics" and extract all the archives to this location. Now double
click the "JoinAnim" icon to run a script that will combine all the
animation files into one big animation. If you do not already have RTG and AHI
systems installed, you can do this from the "Install"
directory.
You are now ready to play Genetic Species! Double click the
"Genetics" icon and enjoy the show.

Thanks must go to the programmer, Per Bloksgaard, and Vulcan
Software for granting us permission to include the game here. Hope you enjoy
this piece of Amiga gaming history... |

Mutation Software released a number of classic Amiga
games before moving on to PC development and music releases. Thanks to Adrian
Cummings at Mutation, we are able to bring you many of their older Amiga titles
here completely free! All of the games here are presented as ZIP files and
within them, the games are stored as ADF files for use with Amiga emulators, or
for conversion back down to Amiga disks.
 |
Castle Kingdoms - Amiga
Castle Kingdoms is an isometric 3D adventure which can be
best described as being a cross between an RPG and Gauntlet.
|
 |
Cyber Punks - Amiga
CyberPunks is a fast paced action shoot-em-up with a puzzle
element thrown in for good measure. Originally released by Core Design, the
game features bright, colour graphics, exaggerated characters as with many
Mutation games, and enough gameplay to keep you hooked for hours.
One thing we will stress about this game is that at the
start, there is a small extra screen that was added when this game was cracked.
Mutation are aware that this is the only version we have available at the
moment, but we will try to bring you an uncracked version as soon as
possible.
|
 |
Doodlebug - Amiga
Doodlebug was the sequel to Mutation's earlier game, Bug
Bash, but this time, instead of a shoot-em-up, they produced a side-scrolling
platform game that had more than a few overtones of the legendary Zool. The
game was originally released through Core Design, who are now better known as
Eidos. This is compatible with all Amigas and will run happily on Amiga
emulators on most systems. A fun game that will keep you entertained for
hours!
|
 |
Nucleus - Amiga
Nucleus is fast-paced horizontally scrolling shoot-em-up
that is compatible with all Amigas and will run happily on Amiga emulators on
most systems. A fun game that will keep you entertained for hours!
|
 |
Tin Toy Adventure - Amiga
An AGA only platform game (I think!). We haven't been able
to test this on our Amiga emulator, but if you have any problems, let us know
and we'll see what we can do with it.
|
 |
Tommy Gun - Amiga
A fast action shoot-em-up where you control a tomato (!)
defending the earth against an alien invasion force. An interesting slant on
the shoot-em-up genre. |

Robinson Software have been producing games for the PC
for some time and they have recently adopted a policy of re-releasing some of
their older games as freeware. Hope you enjoy what's presented here...

 |
Dink Smallwood - PC
Dink Smallwood is a superb RPG for the PC in a very similar
style to the Zelda games. With great graphics and an involving storyline, this
will keep you playing for weeks! This game has been modified by Robinson
Technologies from it's original CD release which has seen the intro animation
removed and the CD audio replaced with midi files but apart from that, the game
is identical. To run this great game, you need 90Mb of free hard drive
space
There are two files for this - the main game at around 25Mb
plus a small patch to fix a few bugs in the first release. Thanks to Seth at
Robinson Technologies for allowing us to bring you this great game. |

Revolution Software have been specialising in adventure
games for some time, releasing such classic games as Beneath A Steel Sky and
most famously, the superb Broken Sword series. Now, thanks to Charles Cecil at
Revolution, we can now bring you some of their classic Amiga and Atari ST
releases...
 |
Beneath A Steel Sky - Amiga
CD32
This is one of, if not the best point and click adventure
ever released for the Amiga. This is a superb futuristic game, featuring some
stunning artwork from leading comic illustrator, Dave Gibbons. The original
release of this came on no less than 15 disks, but the version presented here
is the CD32 conversion, which featured a fully spoken soundtrack.
The game is presented here as an ISO image - just unzip the
file, then using your CD writer, convert the ISO file back into a CD-ROM, which
can then be used on the CD32 and other Amigas with a CD-ROM drive. It might
work with emulators, but we haven't tried it yet!
|
 |
Lure Of The Temptress - Amiga
Lure Of The Temptress is a superb point-and-click adventure
game and was the first title released by Revolution and uses an innovative
context-sensitive control system that negates the need for any on-screen icons
to perform actions. This should run quite happily on all Amigas and pretty much
every Amiga emulator. The game spans four disks (all here in ADF format and
grouped as a single ZIP file) and is available here thanks to Revolution
Software. |

ShadowFlare is a four part RPG for the PC converted from
the Japanese original released in 2001 and is a very similar game to the Diablo
series. Originally, all four episodes were sold over the net for $14.99 each,
but episode one has been released freely. Hope you like it!
 |
ShadowFlare Episode 1 - PC - RETURNING
SOON
by Emurasoft
This is a stunning RPG for the PC and is well worth
downloading. This is the complete game and features the first episode from the
four-part saga. If you enjoy this episode, you can buy the further levels from
the official website.
The game will run on most current PCs. It requires about
200Mb of hard disk space, 128Mb RAM, and a fast PII processor or better. One
thing we must stress is that this is a 90Mb download, and we would recommend
that it is best for those of you with a broadband connection.
Because of the heavy increase in traffic to the website
recently we have had to temporarily remove this game from downloading. We hope
to bring it back shortly once we expand our bandwidth capability for the site
either through sponsorship, advertising, or donations.
In the meantime, if you want to get this superb game, click
on the link above to go to the official ShadowFlare website where you can
download the game from there. |

XTreme Racing - Amiga
by Tuna Technologies (formerly
Silltunna Software)
XTreme Racing was one of the best
3D racing games to appear on the Amiga. It is a kart-style racing game with a
variety of characters to choose from, with superb graphics and sound. It runs
well on most AGA equipped Amigas and is enhanced for those of you with more
than a basic A1200 and faster processors.
Both the original game and the patch are presented here for
you. Just download the files and decompress them to your hard drive and start
playing. The game will also run on PCs running Amiga emulators as long as you
have AGA emulation enabled and that your PC is set up to emulate an Amiga hard
drive.
This game has been brought to you thanks to the developers,
Silltunna (now known as Tuna Technologies). If you like this game, why not
visit their website and maybe send them an email or a crisp £5 note to say
how much you enjoy this great game!
We have also just added the original Amiga disk image files
to the site as a series of DMS files for those of you who want to recreate the
original disks for yourselves. |
